Bringing Farmers Together: A day of learning & discussion!

The farmers meeting held at La Villa Belle Rive, Saint Gérand, France on 23rd October 2025 brought together parent stock farm managers and partners from Le Sayec, for a full day of discussion and knowledge sharing. The event focused on best practices in flock management, welfare, and production efficiency.

The morning session began with an introduction to Aviagen Turkeys and the organisation’s activities. This was followed by a presentation on biosecurity and pest control, highlighting the importance of preventive measures to maintain flock health. Further sessions covered brooding management and lighting programmes, with emphasis on optimising starting conditions for poults. After a short coffee break, the discussion turned to vaccination protocols, before closing the morning with an overview of results and weight performance updates from breeder flocks in rear.

After lunch, the afternoon began with a presentation on animal welfare documentation and audit requirements, highlighting compliance and continuous improvement goals. The following session demonstrated pre-milking techniques and procedures supporting fertility performance and maintaining semen production. The day concluded with an open exchange and Q&A session, allowing participants to discuss practical challenges and share farm experiences.

The seminar provided valuable opportunities for collaboration and reinforced ongoing commitment to flock health, welfare, and performance improvement across all production sites.
